A Message From Your Principal

Dear Parents,

Wohlwend has seen a lot of visitors this week because of our Book Fair, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and Grandparents' Week.  It has been great seeing everyone!  Our kids enjoy the time they get to spend with their grandparents; especially since they get a special lunch when grandma and grandpa visit.  The students have also loved being able to browse and purchase new books at the book fair.  We hope grandparents enjoyed coming up to school just as much as we've enjoyed having them here!

Speaking of the book fair, thank you to Amanda Hebden for being the chairperson for this event.  Also, thank you to all the many parents who have volunteered (some of them lots of hours!) to help work with the students as they've shopped for a perfect new book to read.  The staff and I appreciate the dedication of these parents to help make events like the book fair possible.  We truly couldn't have a book fair without you.  Finally, thank you to all the parents (and grandparents) who allowed their children to purchase books this week.  Paws will be donating the profits from the book fair to purchase new books and materials for our school library.

Parent-Teacher Conferences took place on Monday, and they will continue through tomorrow afternoon.  Conferences are a great time for us to sit down as a team and update you on your child's progress, their strengths,  and to formulate a plan to help them become better learners.  Conferences are not the only time we are available to meet with you to discuss your child's progress.  If you ever have any questions or concerns about your student's performance here at school, please do not hesitate to contact their teacher.  The teachers, Mrs. Hoover, Mrs. Durham, and I are always willing to meet with you to help your child grow and have a positive school experience.  Feel free to contact us to schedule an appointment so we can sit down and talk!

Here's a calendar of upcoming events:

  • Thursday, October 5th - The students will have an early dismissal at 12:55 pm.
  • Friday, October 6th and Monday, October 9th - There will be no school due to Fall Break.
  • Tuesday, October 10th - PAWS is hosting a fundraiser night at the Culver's located at 4140 Rusty Road, near the Target and Costco off Lindbergh Blvd.  Come join us for dinner and support our school!
  • Thursday, October 12th - The Mehlville Board of Education will hold an open meeting beginning at 6:30 pm in the library on the campus of Mehlville High School.
  • Friday, October 13th - Our Fall Festival begins at 6:30 pm.  The event will take place on the parking lot and playground near the cafeteria.

Those are all of our updates for this week.  Have a enjoyable and relaxing Fall Break!
